Review: The Maid Of Fairbourne Hall

To escape a forced marriage, Margaret Macy flees her pampered life in London, dons a disguise, and goes into hiding in a place no one would ever think to look for her: the servants' quarters of an ex-suitor's estate.  All she has to do is maintain her maid masquerade until she comes into her inheritance on her upcoming birthday.  But, can she last that long?

Julie Klassen's The Maid of Fairbourne Hall (Bethany House Publishers, 2012) is a delightful Regency romance.  Klassen's research into 19th century England is evident; delicious details abound in the day to day of Fairbourne Hall.  There is romance, scandal, intrigue, and a memorable cast of characters (including a poetry spouting pirate!).  If you're a fan of Jane Austen, you will adore The Maid of Fairbourne Hall.
