Dorothy Love's Beauty for Ashes (Thomas Nelson, 2012) is a story of faith, sacrifice, and second chances. Set in 1870s Tennessee, the story focuses on the beautiful, young widow, Carrie Daly. Through loss and economic hardship, Carrie is strong, resourceful, and smart. I liked her tremendously. Unfortunately, the other characters in Beauty for Ashes, particularly Griff, aren't as fleshed out as Cary. Still, Beauty for Ashes is a fun, sweet read.
